Woodstock Illinois Fiddle Contest - Sunday, September 18, 2011

This is an email I received from Keith Johnson who organizes the Woodstock Illinois Fiddling Contest.

Hello Everyone:    I'm hoping you can attend our 16'th annual Harvest Festival on Sunday, September 18, on the Square in Woodstock.  It will be from 10 until 5 and will be held rain or shine.  The rain location is the Woodstock Opera House.  We need contestants in all the contests.  Last year some prizes went unclaimed as we did not have enough players.   If you can't attend, please pass the word to any pickers you know.  I'll give a brief summary of the contests below, but the event also has a craft show, old time tractors, a farmers market, an acoustic jam area, and wagon rides. Between the competitions we will have live music on the bandstand.  All adult classes have a $5 entry fee and anyone can enter the day of the contest.    PRIZES ARE AS FOLLOWS:

Junior and Senior fiddle contestants can enter the adult competition, but cannot enter both adult and their division.  Junior will be approximately 4-11 years of age and senior 12 to 16.  If we have no younger contestants, we may adjust where the junior and senior divisions are divided.  There is no entry fee for the junior or senior divisions.  Last year’s first place winner is asked to not enter.    This event is free to the public.

Thank you,   Keith
